TO:  Members, Reserves, & Affiliates of Porter’s Battery,

 

          Our annual planning meeting was called to order at approximately 10:45 am on February 6, 2010 at Stewart County Public Library, Dover, Tennessee.  We had 18 present. 

 

Old Business:

1.     All modern items in camp, including food and drink, must be disguised.

2.     We are going to work on military decorum, mainly saluting, during muster, when spectators are visiting our camp, and when we’re on the field of battle. 

3.     Absolutely NO trash items in the campfire.

 

New Business:

1.     It has been voted on to start having annual dues effective immediately.  They will be $5 person age 16 and above and if the member has a family member over the age of 16 it will be $1 additionally per person.  So a husband and wife would be $6.

2.     We discussed the upcoming artillery school to be held the weekend of March 27th & 28th, 2010 at Dover City Park.  The cost for this is $5 per person participating in the school.

3.     We voted on events for the upcoming year.

a.     March 19th –21st:  Battle of Cadiz, KY

b.    April 16th & 17th:  Christian County Middle School Field Days at Jefferson Davis State Park, Fairview, KY

c.     April 18th:  Event with Friends of Fort Defiance, Clarksville, TN.

d.    April 24th – 25th:  Skirmish on the Duck River, Centerville, TN.  (Maximum Effort)

e.     May 1st:  Old Timer’s Day, Dickson, TN

f.      May 21st – 23rd:  Battle of Sacramento, KY. (Maximum Effort)

g.     June 12th – 13th: Battle of Parker’s Crossroads, TN (Maximum Effort)

h.     July 4th:  Lightning up the Cumberland, Cumberland City, TN.

i.       July 17th & 18th:  Thresherman’s Show

j.       October 1st – 3rd:  Battle of Perryville, KY (Maximum Effort)

k.     October? Fort Donelson Field Day for Stewart County 5th Graders. 

l.       November 27th & 28th:  Battle of Franklin, TN (Maximum Effort)

m.  December 11th:  Shy’s Hill, Nashville, TN (Maximum Effort)

4.     We stressed the importance of recruiting new members.  Each member should strive to recruit at least one person in 2010.

5.     Cpl. Bill Poteet has been promoted to 1st Sgt. This means that each day we will have morning muster for roll call.  There will also be a muster just before we go onto the field of battle.  1st Sgt. Poteet will also be in charge of assuring that the camp is well policed of trash and/or modern items being visible.  Any tent in our camp that has the flaps TIED will be off limits to any and all spectators.

6.     Gunnery Sgt. Skyler Greenhill has now been promoted to Ordinance Sgt.

7.     From time to time all members will be assigned to assist with kitchen duties.
